Ozark FSC Coaching member Agreement

As a coaching member of Ozark FSC (dba: OZARK FIGURE SKATING CLUB), henceforth referred to as OFSC, I agree to the following responsibilities, expectations, and requirements. I understand that non-compliance with the terms of this agreement will result in review by the OFSC Board and will be addressed through the conflict resolution procedures outlined in the Ozark Figure Skating Club Bylaws. Outcomes may include a formal written notice and other corrective actions as permitted under those procedures. Coaching privileges may be reevaluated by the Board based on the results of that process.

All individuals providing coaching services under OFSC must maintain current OFSC membership in good standing. By signing this agreement, I acknowledge that I am coaching as part of Ozark Figure Skating Club, a program partner with The Jones Center.

COACHING PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

Full Coaches (age 18 and over, leading private and/or group instruction):

Responsibilities:

  • Attendance at all OFSC events is highly encouraged.

  • Coaches must attend at least two of the quarterly meetings during the membership year, in addition to all Christmas Show responsibilities.

Christmas Show Participation and Responsibilities is mandatory and includes:

  • Actively coaching group number(s) assigned by the Christmas Show Committee

  • Participation at the dress rehearsal as assigned by the Christmas Show Committee

  • Participation on show day as assigned by the Christmas Show Committee

  • Coaches will be compensated for time spent coaching Christmas Show group practices, dress rehearsal, and show day, as determined by the Christmas Show Committee.

Group Instruction:

  • Must participate in coaching and/or supporting roles for club events such as In-House Seminars, Guest Seminars, Coaches Fundraising, etc., as assigned by the OFSC Board or Event Specific Committee.

Exemptions from attendance requirements may be granted in the case of:

  • Serious injury or illness that prevents participation

  • Pregnancy or postpartum recovery

  • Recent childbirth or adoption

  • Death of an immediate family member

  • Other significant personal hardship

To be considered exempt from responsibilities, coaches must notify the Ozark Figure Skating Club electronically at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled obligation. Documentation may be requested at the Board's discretion, provided it doesn’t violate any state or federal law, to substantiate exemption status.

Coaches are required to attend a minimum of two quarterly meetings per membership year unless an approved exemption is submitted in advance. Failure to meet this requirement will result in a formal written notice. Continued non-compliance may be referred to the Ozark Figure Skating Club Board for review and addressed in accordance with the club’s Bylaws and conflict resolution procedures.

Communications: All event assignments—including but not limited to Christmas Show duties, seminars, and quarterly meetings—will be sent electronically to the email address provided by the coach during membership registration or renewal. Official communication will come from the club’s designated email address: ozarkfigureskatingclub@gmail.com. OFSC requests a courtesy response acknowledging receipt of each communication. Failure to respond does not constitute an exemption from assigned responsibilities.

Junior Coaches (under age 18):

Junior Coaches are defined as individuals under the age of 18 as of July 1 of the current membership year. Those turning 18 mid-year must complete adult US Figure Skating coaching compliance requirements as stated by US Figure Skating. The OFSC participation requirements will not change for the current membership year.

Required to:

  • Assist with a Group Number under the supervision of a full coach for the Christmas Show

  • Provide support for a potential extra National Skate Event hosted by OFSC, separate from the Jones Center event

Exemptions from attendance requirements may be granted in the case of:

  • Serious injury or illness that prevents participation

  • Pregnancy or postpartum recovery

  • Recent childbirth or adoption

  • Death of an immediate family member

  • Other significant personal hardship, at the discretion of the OFSC Board or Coaching Coordinator

To be considered exempt, coaches must notify the Ozark Figure Skating Club Board via email as soon as reasonably possible. Documentation may be requested at the Board's discretion to substantiate exemption status.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS FOR ALL COACHES

Ice Etiquette: I agree to communicate and enforce OFSC ice etiquette rules with my skaters and personally abide by them when on the ice. This includes Skate School (Learn to Skate) sessions, freestyle sessions, competitions, Christmas Show group practices, dress rehearsal and performance day, and all OFSC-hosted seminars or special events.

As part of the OFSC’s partnership with The Jones Center, I understand that I am also expected to model and uphold proper ice etiquette and professional behavior during Jones Center Learn to Skate sessions, public sessions affiliated with OFSC programming, and any events co-hosted or held on Jones Center ice.

Professionalism:

  • I agree to promote OFSC events, membership, and fundraising to my skaters and their families.

  • I agree to model a positive and cooperative relationship with the club in accordance with OFSC Bylaws and OFSC Policies and Procedures.

  • I will maintain a respectful and professional demeanor toward skaters, parents, fellow coaches, and board members as outlined in the U.S. Figure Skating’s Skater, Parent, and Coaches Code of Conduct.

  • I understand that my behavior must remain professional at all competitions, exhibitions, and seminars, regardless of which organization is hosting.

U.S. FIGURE SKATING COACH COMPLIANCE

  • I agree to maintain active U.S. Figure Skating Coaching Compliance at all times.

  • If I turn 18 mid-season, I understand that I must complete USFS adult coaching requirements—including SafeSport training and background check—within the required timeframe to continue coaching.

  • I understand that incomplete compliance and/or expired credentials mean that I may not coach in any capacity until I am compliant.

  • Acting as a coach in any capacity (on or off the ice) while non-compliant is strictly prohibited by U.S. Figure Skating and will be handled in accordance with U.S. Figure Skating Rules and/or U.S. Figure Skating Policies.

  • I understand that as an Adult Coaching Member, I must follow all rules and policies detailed in US Figure Skating’s SkateSafe Handbook including, but not limited to, policies related to mandated reporting, whistleblower protection, and anti-retaliation.
